RE: RV Recalls for July, 2008

"......Certain chassis fasteners may fracture resulting in poor handling of the vehicle, loss of steering, and/or reduced level of suspension performance. Loss of steering will increase the risk of a crash......"
The above statement is from one of the manufacturers' recall notices.
(YUP!!..."Loss of steering usually does increase the risk of a crash..!!)"...(ahem)

RE: follow up on neck fusion c 4,5,6,7

my neck surgery was a cake walk compared to my level 2 back fusion. since my back surgery i have become diabetic, neuropathy in my legs and feet, can't stand up but about 15 minutes. I had the surgery to get better but now i am in a power chair most of the time. I was on long term disability, but they cut my benefits off in march, saying i could do sedetary work but dr. says no work at all. I am waiting on a court date for social security disability. They have me on oxicotine 4 times a day, it gets boring sitting at home. Think twice before having back surgery. Hope your wife gets better.
Dear Stan,
I underwent an 11 level spinal fusion, (T7 - L5/S1), in 2002, and had to have it redone in 2004. It has been a h**l of a ride for sure sir, and I can understand a little of what you are going through. My days revolve around frequent stretching, and trying not to become stagnant. As a result, I'm actually able to function fairly well, but I certainly have to adjust my pace and ask for help, (when I can swallow my pride). Standing for any length of time is the most difficult thing for me still.
I'm 63yrs. of age and am still able to travel whenever and wherever I want to.
Please feel free to PM me if you'd like, or e-mail me at:
Hutch73r@yahoo.com. if you'd like to share experiences. I've found it to be quite helpful at times.
Stay with it buddy,
Enjoy the journey....:B

RE: Campground Electricity

I am curious. Do any of you naysayers happen to own a computer? do you have a surge protector on it? if so, why?
bumpy
"Bumpy"
Yeah I do. Call me paranoid, but once is enough for this 'ol country boy. I'm a firm believer in "surge-guard overkill", (ahem)...;)

RE: New toy hauler - tying down a Gold Wing

Your Honda dealer could best advise you on tie down proceedures as they more than likely pick up and deliver these bikes quite often.

RE: Open Range

I to am looking at the Open Range. Is there a problem with the frame? Please explain what a Lippert frame is. Thanks.
"womps",
Type in 'Lippert Frames' in the "Search" box at the top of the page, (left side), and you'll find a goodly amount of "info". re: Lippert Frames.

RE: Answer needed!!!

I just ran another dedicated 30amp service for my latest 5er.
Total cost of materials = $91.54.
Feeling of security = "priceless".
I had to run it off of a 20amp. circuit for about 4 months, (relocated after divorce), and I couldn't run the A/C, etc.

Bought the same exact unit at a Home Depot in Denver while passing through last year. VERY nice/fast compressor and very easy to handle.
My $.02 as well....

RE: Campground Electricity

Am I lucky or what? I have been camping for 30+ years. We have camped in 22 states, all Canadian Provinces & Territories. We have just returned from a 3 month trip up north. I have never had a surge protector! Never experienced a problem, knock on wood. Maybe it is something I should look at. But then again, never had a flat tire either and yet I carry a spare!
Cheers.

RE: Tagged Again

Man....! I sure do read a lot of "Lippert Frame Posts" on the forum.
Quite frankly, they were a tremendous help as I was researching the various makes during the pre-buying process of my latest 5er.
'New Horizins' actually fronted me $1K to fly from Chico, CA to Junction City, KS to tour their factory. As an ex-welder/fabricator, touring their frame shop was a joy for sure. All Box Tubing frame, and impeccable workmanship, (IMHO). I spoke with a welder who was tacking up a 38' frame in the jig, and he mentioned that when checking "T&S", (true and square), if a 38' frame is diagonally 'off' by 1/4", he'll knock it loose...adjust...and re-tack before moving on with other structural needs. The workmanship/towability is evident the minute I hit the road.
Just my $.02

RE: Strange problem

FWIW.....when I park/store the 5er. for any period of time over 2 weeks +/-, I always turn the toilet water off, drain the bowl, and pour vegetable oil into it, (always done this...helps lube the seal). You might try this, and if your cabs. are splattered with veggie oil...then...uh?...then...possibly?...uh?...well...?...(sorry, I thought I had a great idea going here until just now).

RE: Camper fire, what happened here?

Guy hears an explosion inside his camper, leaves the pump running while he goes to see what happened, opens the door and exposes the flame to the fuel he now has running on the ground.
Sounds like it is Laurel and Hardy week at the gas station.

I switched out my stock gate for the "Husky" aluminum V-Gate. I love the looks and the function of this gate. Great workmanship!
